My head is empty

My sister is currently learning this dance. Another reason that she is way cooler than me.

I have to give a french presentation next week in which I teach something to the class. I was thinking about doing mine on kpop but fear that I will forever be remembered as that retarded asian girl with AMAZING taste in music. Then again maybe that wouldn't be so bad...

SINK is currently working on our second photo shoot for Bare Magazine. Somehow we went from having two models to one model to four models. I think I'm the kind of person that's always second guessing themselves. I wonder when I'll learn what it takes to be self assured so that I'm not constantly freaking out and having anxiety attacks. Thank god for Seika, if it wasn't for her I'm pretty sure I would forever be a negative Nancy.

As of right now Marcus has invited himself over this Sunday to watch a gay korean movie with SINK. Cool.

Random conversation

While walking down the street...

Random guy: Hey, looks like we jaywalk the same.
Me: Uh... yeah. Haha.
Guy: So what did you do today?
Me: I went to the market.
Guy: Which ones?
Me: Trader Joes and Berkeley Bowl.
Guy: Oh, those are my two favorites.
Me: Cool.
Guy: Trader Joe for wine and Berkeley Bowl for flowers.
Me: ...
Guy: So what do you do here?
Me: I go to school.
Guy: UC Berkeley?
Me: Yeah.
Guy: Great... I...
Me: Hey, gotta cross the street. Bye.

Wine and flowers... seriously dude?

OMG TAVI FTW

I know a lot of people have said this or that, positive and negative about this girl at one time or another, but ON THE REALIO, what is there to dislike about this picture? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's really great like the 'fuck yeah nebulas' tumblr I follow, great.

You'll probably never ever see me telling you to read someone's blog on here again, but here's a link to Tavi's blog: http://www.thestylerookie.com

Cigarettes and Cheap Alcohol

Alotta good things going on in this picture.

Carolann: I dunno why but the best smell on a guy is cigarettes and cheap alcohol.
me: yup

I guess that makes us trashy.

A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to Meet Nancy

Henry Holland for Levi's featuring Leigh Lezark

I walk out of Milk studios to meet Nancy after the Frank Tell show when I see Leigh Lezark walking into the building. I stopped walking, put my hands over my mouth, and said, "Oh my God." Needless to say, I was very embarrassed, but couldn't help heehee-ing the whole way home.

Gloomy Sunday

Also called The Hungarian Suicide Song. Composed by pianist Rezso Seress, apparently the melody was linked to hundreds of suicides after it was first introduced in the 1930s.

Note: I'm not depressed or anything but I love this song. Also I realize that this has nothing to do with anything but whaterrrr.

If you look closely, you can see the pointed and squiggly rays coming from Mary's head. Cool.

Me in 6th grade

Nancy: How do you look the same?
Seika: No, no! Look at my eyebrows!

Feeling nostalgic about big sweaters and Adidas with chunky laces.

I am sneaky

Kevin and I have an agreement that we'll take turns sleeping over at each other's places. I can't remember the last time I've slept there. Sometimes Kevin tries to take a stand and says he's staying at his place. So I have to get crafty.

me(4:11:38 PM): i'm doing all my hw early today

Paris AW 2010

Yohji Yamamoto

Haider Ackermann

I am currently very behind on fashion shows. Pretty sure it was a lost cause after London anyway. Still, I managed to check in on the designers I care about and found that I loved the collections presented by Yohji Yamamoto and Haider Ackermann. I've always had a difficult time expressing my thoughts on collections or really fashion in general. And it might be a strange thing for a Rhetoric major to say but I truly believe that I am terrible with words. At least when it comes to articulating my feelings about fashion. Paper on Kant, yes; blog post about my thoughts on the Yohji show, no.

I also get really uncomfortable when people tell me what I should like or ask me about my personal style. In fact I'm fairly certain that my friends could describe my style better than I could. Sometimes I think fashion is about having a visceral reaction to something. You like it or you don't like it. Some things grow on you but usually you like what you like and that's that. Obviously I have preferences and tendencies which could place me under certain categories and what not but it really is too much of a headache to start thinking about what that means about me and who I am as a person and what I'm trying to say through my clothes.

Maybe I just like it.

some cheese and some cake

This past Thursday our school was on strike, again, so while people were rallying, marching, protesting, hootin' and hollerin' Jordan, Seika, and I decided to take advantage of our day off from school and hopped on the bus to Cheeeseboard. For those of you who don't know, it's the shit, go try.

nomzzzz

Seika hiding from the camera

After Cheeseboard Jordan was in the mood for something sweet so we headed over to Love at First Bite; a cute cupcake shop tucked away in the Gourmet Ghetto.
 Jordan got Lemon Pistachio

Seika and I split a Strawberry cupcake

We all agreed that the cupcakes were okay but nothing spectacular. I blame it on the frosting, it was too dry! Also I wanted to share a picture of my nails. They're like little disco balls for when I need to start my own party and dance on the boardwalk.

Just Sayin': Isabel Marant Fall 2010 RTW

I generally find Isabel Marant's designs really agreeable, but what the heck is going on with the invasion of capri pants?! I get it. It's comfortable, cute, and makes you feel like Mary Tyler Moore, but red leather capris? Even with the cute patchy detailing above the knee, this is one trend that I kind of want to see burn in flames. Just sayin'.

Mind you, Jordan doesn't date girls.

J: Omg the drinks here sound sooo bomb
SI: Hahah yeah
J: Can we recreate?
SI: (WHAT PROCREATE?!? Jordan?!?!) Recreate what?
SI:(No you idiot REcreate, NOT PROcreate...) The drinks? Hahahahaah.
J: Yes!

Whew~

The Best Part of the Olympics

Was seeing this shit.

For those of you who aren't well versed in the amazingness that is Korean pop music this Olympian is doing the Abrcadabra dance made popular by the girl group Brown Eyed Girls. I don't care what anyone else says I love this video and Ga-In looks FEEYUS in it!

Now for a little anecdote:
This winter break it was my best friend Carolann's 21st birthday and she wanted to spend it with me! Yayeeee, only one problem. I'm still 20.. like still ... even now.. booo. Anywho, we decided to go to Rage in LA on Gameboi night. Don't ask but apparently, according to Seika, the fact that I had a blast there that night says a lot about me. What's a Gameboi you might ask? It's a GAY ASIAN! I know, truly amazing. We walked in and I have to say I was pretty impressed with how well kept the place was, there were huge screens all over playing music videos. The whole night was spent dancing our troubles away to the likes of Lady Gaga, Shakira, Rihanna, and tons of Madonna. The best part about Gameboi night? The KPOP!!! They played 2ne1, WonderGirls, and of course Brown Eyed Girls. When the song Abracadabra came on, it went a little like this:
me: OH MY GAHHHH OMGAHHHH IZ MY SONNNNG!!
Carolann: oh my god...
me: GET OUTTA MY WAY! MAKE ROOM!

and the hip swaying commenced.
