Natalia Vodianova, Karen Elson, and Christy Turlington. Uh... need I say more? I am a happy, happy girl today! Now, to find a way to get Carmen Kass up in hurr...
I'm currently at worknot working because I have food coma and am patiently waiting for Tim Blanks' review of this show to come out on Style.com along with the Givenchy one which I'm pretty curious about (a little lackluster for me aside from the lace and nude).
Here are some of my favorite looks from the CDG collection. Not anything earth shattering or OMG BRILLIANT (though Seika might disagree) but you know... it was tight. I've also never been a huge fan of skulls as I think they're cheesy. Except like.. real skulls.. like in archeology and shit because those are cool. Still, I don't mind them so much in this collection, it's the Rei-factor I guess.
I thought the shoulders in the first look and the shoes in the collection were great. Also you know me, I like the men in skirts trend.. on models at least.
Rayanne: I think part of him is partly interested in you. Definitely. I mean, he's got other things on his mind. Angela: But that's the part that's so unfair. I have nothing else on my mind. How come I have to be the one sitting around analyzing him in, like, microscopic detail, and he gets to be the one with other things on his mind?
I remember about four years ago, I asked my friend James, a painter, who his favorite painter was. James confidently responded with Lucian Freud and said Freud was a painter's painter. Upon googling him, I was really confused. There was so much paint, so little finish, and a lot of "ugliness."
Somehow, over the span of four years, Freud has become one of my favorite postwar/contemporary painters. It's funny. I like him now because of what I used to dislike him for, then. There is so much paint, so little finish, a lot of "ugliness," and I really wouldn't have it any other way.
This all reads more serious than I mean. Basically, I think he's really awesome and I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do.
edit: It's weird... these are the exact images I saved onto my computer to upload later. (Digital ESP?) I don't even like tribal prints, but I can get down with these! xo SI
Looking at this collection made me laugh. Not because I thought it was bad (not at all!). It's just... I could imagine Nancy or I wearing every other look. No?
xo SI
NK-This made me smile really big at work. Basically we'd be a super stylish gf/bf pair. Works for me.
I almost don't want to like these looks because they're so simple and .. I dunno .. easy? But who am I to question Ricardo right? Therefore, I love them. Fist pound dude.
I don't even know how this image from AnOther magazine got past me the first time I saw this shoot. Anyway, right when I thought I was *so over* (forgive me for how that sounds) the Miu Miu Spring 2010 collection... here comes Panos Yiapanis to knock me over the head and bring me back to outer space. (Which, FYI, is a good thing.)
Oddly enough before I knew about Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Derek Lam and all those other contemporary (and asian) labels I only knew Rag & Bone. I used to say it was one of my favorite brands in an attempt to sound knowledgable about the fashion industry. Obviously my tastes have changed and I've grown to love and appreciate lots of different labels and aesthetics but the people who really know me will tell you, yup Nancy would probably like that. And 'that' is usually something like this.
I'm sorry I'm so predictable Seika but you still love me right?
xo Nancy
edit: No worries! I think this collection is (borrowing Lil Mama's favorite phrase) on point! xo SI
Yo, Stella. How you doin'?! Never thought I'd be saying this about a McCartney collection, but basically really like what's going (minus the shoes and bags.) It's dope.
In high school, most lunches were spent in Ms. Avant's art history-cum-darkroom. All of the kids who gathered in that general area were into their own things. For my friends and I, it was a place where we listened to a lot of ambient/trip-hop/electronica and jazz music, while arguing about who was a "better" model, Erin Wasson or Natasha Poly. Good times!
My favorite model at that time and possibly of all time (STILL LOVE Daul Kim, Natasha Vodianova, Natasha Poly, Freja Beha Erichsen, Karen Elson, Carmen Kass, Lily Donaldson, etc.) is Gemma Ward. <3
